Aruba sells sunshine all year, but demand is not flat. The Aruba Tourism Authority says visitation peaks in the winter months, January to March, and the Carnival parades fall in that stretch too: in 2026 the season ran from the Torch Parade on 3 January to the Grand Parade on 15 February.

Below: the season in dates, the one fee you pay before you fly, and a booking plan for the tours on this site.

The quick answer

High season peaks from January to March. Cruise traffic peaks earlier, with three ships in port on 24 and 31 December. Aruba's official Carnival page has not published the 2027 dates yet. Air arrivals pay a $20 sustainability fee with the ED card before they fly. Book UTV and Natural Pool tours 3 to 4 weeks ahead for Christmas, Carnival and spring break, and use the free cancellation to stay flexible.

When is high season in Aruba for 2026-27?

January to March is the peak, according to the Aruba Tourism Authority. April to August and September to December are quieter.

The official Aruba travel guide says "visitation peaks during the winter months". For April to August it notes that "visitation tends to be lower", and it calls September to December "another great time to visit on a budget".

The weather matters less than you might think. The Meteorological Department puts the rainy season roughly from September to January, with showers mostly in the early morning or evening, and it places the island on the southern fringe of the hurricane belt. Expect dust on a December UTV tour before you expect rain.

How busy is Aruba this year?

Busy. The government reported 160,858 stayover visitors in July 2026 alone, and the cruise schedule more than doubles from October to December.

The Aruba Tourism Authority's July 2026 results count 160,858 stayover visitors and 1,073,422 visitor nights that month, with an average stay of 6.7 nights. July falls in the months the Tourism Authority describes as lower in visitation. On top come the cruise guests: Aruba Ports Authority lists 29 calls in October, 51 in November and 65 in December 2026.

Our cruise ship days post lists the dates with three ships in port. Book tours for those days first.

When is Carnival 2027 in Aruba?

The official 2027 dates are not published yet. Aruba's Carnival page puts the Grand Parade in Oranjestad on the Sunday before Ash Wednesday.

The official Aruba Carnival page has not published the 2027 dates yet; aruba.com posts the calendar there. It places the Grand Parade in Oranjestad on "the Sunday before Ash Wednesday". The 2026 season shows the shape: the Torch Parade opened Carnival on 3 January, the Lighting Parade ran in Oranjestad on 7 February, the San Nicolas Grand Parade on 14 February and the Grand Parade on 15 February, with Carnival Monday, 16 February, an official holiday.

If you want to see the parades, keep the parade weekend free and book your UTV tour for another day.

What do I have to pay before I fly to Aruba?

A $20 sustainability fee, paid online with the ED card in advance. Children under 8 are exempt, and you pay it once per calendar year.

Since 1 July 2024 visitors arriving by air pay a $20 sustainability fee, according to the Aruba Tourism Authority. It is charged through the online Embarkation and Disembarkation (ED) card, which has to be completed and paid in advance; there is no cash payment on arrival. The fee page lists Visa, Mastercard and Discover as accepted cards.

Exempt: children under 8, registered residents, crew on duty, visitors who arrive and leave the same day, and repeat visits within the same calendar year. The fee applies to visitors arriving by air, and the official page says cruise ship passengers usually do not need to complete an ED Card. Inside Arikok the separate USD 22 park pass applies; our Arikok fees post has the details.

How far ahead should I book a UTV tour for high season?

Three to four weeks ahead for Christmas, Carnival weekend and spring break; one to two weeks for the rest of January to March.

These are our planning windows, built on the demand above, not an operator rule. Early booking costs nothing: every tour on this site has free cancellation up to 24 hours before.

Small groups have the fewest seats. The Fofoti UTV tour takes no more than 16 guests, and the horseback ride is a small-group tour with a 220 lb rider limit. Our pick takes up to 50 guests per departure.

Morning or afternoon tour in high season?

Morning, if you want lunch included; afternoon if you want to dodge an early shower. Lunch on the ABC tours comes with the morning departure only.

On the ABC UTV and jeep combo, the Wild Side UTV tour and the jeep safari, lunch is listed for the morning departure only. Book the morning slot on those three.

The 2 to 5 seater UTV tour runs at 9:00 AM and 2:30 PM with the same route either way. In the rainy months the Meteorological Department notes showers mostly in the early morning hours, so the afternoon slot misses those. Pack goggles and a bandana either way: see what to wear.
